WISE, Va. — A Wise County man remains in jail after a police raid uncovered drugs and weapons in his home.
Wise County and Norton Commonwealth’s Attorney’s spokesperson Jessica Hood said Rodney Allen Pickett, 49, Coeburn, was arrested March 3 by Coeburn police on an assault and battery warrant. Officers saw evidence of an alleged crime at Pickett’s Banner residence and returned with a search warrant, according to Hood.
Officers seized a machine gun along with almost two pounds of methamphetamine and mushrooms, Hood said.
Pickett was charged with maintaining a common nuisance; possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; possession of a firearm while distributing Schedule I or II drugs; two counts of possession of a Schedule I or II drug; failure to register a machine gun within 24 hours; and possession of a machine gun for aggressive purposes.
Pickett is being held at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Abingdon.
